Flickr Flash Hover / Roll-Over Effect
Learn how to create the Flickr text hover effect with Flash.

Instructions

This tutorial was written using Flash CS4, but it will work for previous versions of Flash.

  1. Open Adobe Flash.
  2. Import your photo to the stage.
  3. Create a new layer called rollover.
  4. Select the rollover layer.
  5. Create a black box over your rollover object.
  6. Convert the box to a button symbol.
  7. Using the Selection tool, double click the box to edit.
  8. Drag the dot from “up” to “hit” in timeline.
  9. Create a new layer called “text”.
  10. Use the text tool to place enter and place your text that should appear during hover / rollover.
  11. Set the text properties:
    Verdana 12
    Unselect – Selectable
    Select – HTML
    Select – Border
    Use Dynamic Text
    Use Multiline
  12. Use Shift-F5 to remove frames from under “down” and “hit” on text layer
  13. Drag dot from “up” to “over” on text layer.
  14. Use selection tool to double click outside of stage and return to main timeline.
  15. Use CTRL-ENTER to preview your text hover-roll-over.
