Creating a freeze frame in Final Cut Pro 6
This is a quick tutorial on creating a freeze frame in Final Cut Pro 6.

Instructions

This tutorial was written using Final Cut Pro 6, I believe Apple made some changes in 7.

  1. Place the playhead at the desired freeze point
  2. Click “B” for blade and splice the clip
  3. Create some space for the new still
  4. Place your playhead one frame back from the cut point
  5. Make sure your viewer window is up
  6. Hit “SHIFT + N” (or select modify, make freeze frame from the menu)
  7. Drag the clip from the viewer window into the browser
  8. Now insert the clip where desired
  9. Create a new layer called “text”.

REMEMBER: THE DURATION IS CONTROLLED IN USER PREFS – EDITING – STILL FRAME DURATION.
